Anyways, I have taken the SAT twice and I don't know whether or not I should take it again or take the ACT.

First Time:
Math - 720
Writing - 620
Reading - 600

Second Time:
Math - 750
Writing - 600
Reading - 610

I don't really know what I should do. My counselor told me that I should consider taking it again because I'm pretty close to a 2000 (highest combined).

SAT IIs:
Math Level 2 - 800
Biology M - 800
Chinese - 790

My GPA right now is 3.85 (weighted, honors/ap only +0.5, we have +/-)

Here are the schools that I am considering to apply to:
Johns Hopkins,
Wash U in St Louis,
UCLA,
UCSD,
UC Davis,
U of Washington,
U Wisconsin - Madison,
UT Austin,
NYU,
Arizona State U

I know that some of the colleges on my list are high reaches but still. I don't know what I should do. Any suggestions? What are my chances of getting into the schools that are on my college list?

I would definitely retake the SAT and take the ACT, if you have time. Neither will hurt you. If you have to pick one, I would say stick with the SAT. Your SATIIs look fine.

I'm just a little puzzled by the discrepancy between your perfect Math Level 2 SAT II and your 750 regular math. I would think that you would definitely be able to bring the math section up.

If you're instate for the UC's you will probably be fine, oos will be a bit of a stretch but still doable. I would say that NYU and Wash U in St.L are high reaches.

I agree with most of the stuff in the above post, but NYU is definitely not a high reach for you. NYU is a high match/low reach, plenty of subpar students from my hs get accepted there every year. (subpar=<10%,<2000)

IMO, take the ACT in September, see how you do, and take the SAT in October if you still aren't satisfied.

any suggestions about prep books? for both ACT and SAT
(I didn't study for my second time because of APs/IBs + finals, so I'm pretty sure I should be able to do better)
