What is the best college in New York for computer science?

I want to major in computer science. I only want to get a bachelors right now.

1970 SAT 730 Math 650 CR 580 WR
3.1 GPA

If I go to Stony Brook I will graduate with 30k in debt but I heard Stony Brook is very good for computer science. Is this true? Also if I go to Stony Brook I will get the "real college experience". Is this worth the 30k in debt?

If I go to something like Cuny barcuh I will graduate 100% debt free.
What's the best CUNY for computer science?

For computer science jobs I heard the most important things are internships.

What do you guys think I should do. Something like Stony Brook or Baruch?
Or maybe a different college altogether?
I just want a college with a great computer science program that I can get into. As little debt as possible but if the 30k debt is worth it in the long run then I will definitely take it.

From what I can tell, Baruch doesn’t even have a CS major.

In general, where you get your CS degree doesn’t matter as long as it’s from a semi-respectable school. My guess is a CS degree from any of the CUNY schools that offer one is fine.

MisterK: I agree to a certain extent (for CS, being ABET accredited means the program is good and recognized, even though not being accredited doesn’t mean the program is bad, just following other curricula) but I think Stony Brook is a reach for OP, so s/he needs to have a lot of other schools, especially considering that s/he has high financial need. Being able to compare offers is a crucial element in addition to getting in, and financial aid packages at some of the other schools would include merit for his/her stats. They would also offer the “college experience” that OP wishes for.

$30,000 in debt TOTAL (for 4 years) is manageable for a CS major but I’m not sure it’s worth it for Stony Brook. NY CS professionals/engineers may be able to shed light on this.
