so i'm in 8th grade and i'm taking french 1. You are supposed to take it in 9th grade but i decided to take it early. I got an 89 first quarter, 88 2nd quarter, another 89 3rd quarter, and an 83 on the final exam. In my school the grading system is 80-83= C+ 84-90 = B 90-94 = B+ and 94-100 = A. so my grades were 3 high B's, 1 high A, and i C+ on the final. This makes my final grade about 89/92 (high B/ low B+). I can retake it in 9th grade and get an A and it wont show up on my college application, or I can keep the B+ and take french two next year in 9th grade. What will look better on a college application: ex.1 5 years of french, A,A,A,A,B+ or ex.2 4 years of french,A,A,A,A? I want to go to an ivy league school, will one B+ ruin by chance? in my district you can take high school courses in middle school that go on your transcript and count for college.

You're In The Frakking 8th Grade!!!!!!!!! I Hope You Are A Troll.

You're doomed. Better start looking into community colleges

;)

Take French 1 again, not just for the grade but to truly master the fundamentals as you go on. French gets much harder as you move forward.

Thge odds of almost anyone getting into an Ivy are remote. If that is your primary concern, you are setting yourself up for failure. Why take 5 years of a language unless you plan to major in it? I'd look at this as an opportunity to skip a language in either the jr. or sr. year -- maybe this will relieve some pressure then.
On the other hand, if you got a B+ this year, what makes you think you would get an A in French 2 next year? And if you don't do great in French 2, what about French 3 the following year? If retaking French 1 makes sense academically, maybe you should do it. If it's to pad your resume, I think that's a mistake.

I don't think this one B+ will be the tipping point as to whether you get into the college of your choice or not.

wow...an eighth grader on CC...they're getting younger and younger.

troll .

I hope this is a joke.

Take French 2. Five years of a language will look good, and one B+ really, reaaaallly won't keep you out of an Ivy.

another thought would be to repeat French I -- to make sure you really master it and also to give you an easier class in 9th grade, so you can devote more time to your other classes.

omg get a life, you are in 8TH GRADE!!!! colleges don't even LOOK at grades from 8th grades! and one B+ is not the end of the world! god...

Uh oh... you're in a big, big trouble :(
Ivy League colleges will obviously expect 99% or over and look down at your horrible grades....

better start preparing for other colleges.

its the op's first post. im pretty sure he/she is a troll...

If it is your first post, welcome.

Do not take French 1 again. You'll be bored next year. Go to school to learn. A B+ in 8th grade is irrelevant, but being in French 5 as a senior can be helpful.

You can also do Rosetta Stone over the summer to brush up.

Is she serious lol? Sorry to tell you, but colleges don't give a crap about middle school grades...

a huge part of me wants to be mean and laugh and say something funny but...

if you think you learned the material okay, then don't retake it, if you don't think you learned french very well, then retake it

by the way you are talking about this grade makes me think it transfers to your high school transcript so if you are bent on getting a 4.0 throughout high school (which is unnecessary for even Harvard), then retake it and get an A i guess...but i highly doubt it will make a difference in your colllege application and this one B definitely does not mean you lost your chance at Harvard at all.

so...you should probably base your deciison on whether or not you learned the material unless you are one of those perfectionists who will kill themselves if they get one B in high school (valedictorians). (if you stay under like 5 B's total in highschool, it shouldn't make THAT much of a difference)

lolz@trollz

Gotta admit, this is one of the best trolls in a while.

But that's not saying much, this one is just a rehash of other unoriginal ideas. I've seen much better trolls on CC, though not in a couple years.

and i thought screwing up tenth grade was bad!
