What should I do if I realized i accidently Put false information on college app?

I just randomly had an epiphany that I accidentlly might have put false infromation on a college app by saying I got 6th place in a speech category....but it might seem like I got 6th place in that speech category for the state? (does it seem like that?) I did get 6th place in a speech category but it was for just one tournament during the speech season. I already got accepted to a college accidently putting that and i submitted 4 other colleges on common app with that "false"information.

Should I email the colleges and ask them to change it? Or what should i do? I"m freaking out like crazy rigth now.

Talk to your GC. They’ll know the answer as to how to handle this better than anyone on CC ever could. They might even handle it for you.

It’ll probably need to be cleaned up, just to make sure everything is clear, but in the end, it’s probably no big deal.

Did you say you got 6th place in a state competition? If yes, then send a short email to the admissions offices noting the correction. If you just said 6th place and did not say it was a state competition, then I wouldn’t even worry about it, unless there’s something about what you said that would be misleading.

If you decide to make a correction, your email should read something like this:

Please note the following correction to the information listed on my application under “Extracurricular Activities”: My 6th place award for Speech was at the local Big City High School tournament. Thank you.

That’s it - nothing else is needed.

That isn’t false or misleading at all. No need to worry about it.
