well i just got accepted to UCI…but the bad news is that they can only give me a transfer student spot for the Winter (2nd) semister. i was wondering if i can still get freshman housing in the fall if i accept this (i heard housing gets filled up quick and it might be harder to get in the middle of the year) before i transfer in.is it possible for my friend to request me as a roommate for the fall(even though i might come in during second semister)? i dont want to miss out freshman year and i REALLY want to dorm in mesa court or middle earth. i’m wondering if i should appeal to be admitted as a a freshman instead of a transfer student. i haven’t accepted UCI offer yet and was wondering what are the chances for them to accept me as a freshman instead of a transfer student? what would you do? any suggestions and answers would be helpfu.l thanks

What? You're a freshman applicant but they accepted you as a transfer? That's pretty weird, I've never heard of that.

That's kinda shady that you're a freshman and they're treating you as a transfer. In any case, wouldn't that mean that you don't go to school at all for the first semester/quarter?..

yup from what i heard Irvine said they received the most qualified pool of appplicants this year, so they're trying out the winter transfer thing, similar to what berkeley has beeen doing. they'll guranteee you a spot in the winter, 3 months after applicants that have been admitted for fall 2006, meaning that you'll have to attend a community college during the first 3 months of your freshmen year. i'm guessing this is people call late acceptance? However, I'm not sure why there would all of sudden by more room in the winter and not the fall.
