What should I do next? and what are the chances that i could transfer to ucb

I am a student from University of Illinois Urbana Champaign, and my major is computer science. I will apply as a transfer student this year. I have already finished the prerequisites for my major, and still working on my personal statement. Is there anything I should do next? I took a lot of classes about computer science, so I did not have time to take general education courses, like economy. My GPA is 3.8 so far, so do i have a chance?

Your chances are very slim, but it has nothing to do with your academic skills.

The transfer process at UC Berkeley is designed primarily for students coming from California community colleges. Well over 90% of transfers come from a CCC. A few come from four year public schools in California. Very, very few come from all other places.

If you have met all the requirements for transferring and you can afford the application fee, go ahead give it a shot. But you should also have some schools on your list where the chance of admission is a lot higher.

Berkley transfer here, and I agree with @LVKris. There is a different subforum that has good information for you:

There are a few out of state (OOS) applicants in there as well.
