What should I do regarding my SAT scores?

I am wondering whether is it worth it to retake the SAT, since I’ve only taken it once. I read an online article that said if your score is 1530+ then there is no point in retaking the SAT, since you are already in the highest score range for colleges. However, I’m also not sure if my essay score is good enough, although the only school I’m looking at so far that would absolutely require an SAT with essay would be Dartmouth.

My total SAT score is 1560, with 760 for the reading and writing sections and 800 for math. My essay scores were 7, 6, and 7.

In terms of the amount of studying I did, I did not study at all for the math and the writing and language grammar sections of the SAT. I did complete about half of a workbook I had for the reading section prior to taking the SAT. So I guess I could have improve my reading and writing score if I took the SAT again, but do I really have to considering my current score? I barely studied at all for the essay part as well.

By the way, the colleges I’m looking at so far are pretty selective, in case that factors into whether I should retake the SAT or not.

You shouldn’t bother taking it again. Another 30-40 points won’t make any difference. Well done, @PlayofColor !

No need to take again. Great job. Your score is competitive for all top colleges.

As my D once asked me, why would you want to waste a perfectly good Saturday morning? You’re done.

1560 is amazing… I believe anything upwards of 1500 is excellent since 1500 is around the top 1%.
You’re essay score is good enough 20/24.
I get my SAT Score back on the 23rd.
