So far, I got into UCI for bio, but UCSD as undeclared, even though I put physiology and neuroscience as my first major. IDK what to do, I've always wanted to go to SD, but if I can't do my major then I won't go. I called the lady at the admissions office, and she said that the chances of me NOT getting my impacted major are higher than me getting the major.
GRRRR what should I do?????

As far as I know, as long as it is not an impacted major then there should be no problem switching into that major after you are admitted. The only issue would be if you want to do biology (or some other impacted major you can find here: http://students.ucsd.edu/academics/advising/majors-minors/impacted-majors.html). In order to switch into the biology department, you have to do a very simple application after three quarters of residence but no more than six quarters (excluding summer). The process looks at rather or not you fulfilled the lower division course for biology and then rank you according to your GPA. I think they admit 300 people into the biology department through this process?

Physiology and Neuroscience is an impacted major. I don’t want to risk it and not get the major that I want, when at UCI I already have bio But I’ve wanted to go to SD since forever, but now IDK :(((

Oh opps I should have clarified that I meant getting into the biology department, which includes the Physiology and Neuroscience major. Once you are actually in the department, I believe you can easily switch around between the majors in that department.

These are the only statistics they have: http://biology.ucsd.edu/undergrad/EAStats.html

Also did you pick just the neuroscience or general biology choice as well?
How are you doing in classes like AP bio/ap chem, if you are taking those in senior year.
If you are doing well and have confidence, I would go for UCSD…you may get into at least one of the majors in the bio department. [Major info / Degree info](http://biology.ucsd.edu/undergrad/majors/majorinfo.html)

Also call the Bio department, not the generic admissions office.

I picked phys and neuroscience as my 1st choice.

So you didn’t have a second choice within the bio department?
Also have you taken AP Bio/AP chem? If so, how well are you doing?
As I said before, you should try to talk to the bio department directly if possible.
To be honest, if you have taken the AP level bio/chem classes and done well, you should be in good shape else if your science/math grades are a bit shaky, stick with the UCI option. Not sure what your other stats are.

I took AP Bio my junior year, got A’s both semesters and got a 4 on the exam, and I’m taking AP Chem this year, received a B+ this semester, trying much harder for that A this semester! I think since Chem has alot of math, I didn’t do as well for Bio, since Math hasn’t always been my strong suit. But I’m willing to put in all the hard work that is involved!

I got in this major: physiology and neuroscience too
