I didn't apply to U Penn as a freshmen because I knew I'll get rejected(embarrassing SAT scores). U Penn has always been my first choice(I even have the words "U Penn" on my socks). I've done all kinds of things just to make my resume look better, but the rejection letters from Dartmouth and Cornell tell me it doesn't work :( After I compared myself with those who got in, I realized it's not just a SAT problem: They all have a particular interest and their activities are all about their interest. Now I hate how I left my favorite subject Biology behind and spend all the time learning Japanese and Chinese just to impress U Penn. I think the only thing I can be proud of is my 3.95 UW GPA in High School. Do you guys have any suggestions for what I should do next?

I know but do you have any specific suggestions? I just started to volunteered at a local wildlife center and started my own web design company. Am I heading the right way?
Thanks.

Yeah I mean there’s no right answer. Just write good essays, and ask yourself why you want to go to Penn. It will make it that much easier to tell them once you know for yourself.

retake SATs?

Talk about your passion in your essay and maybe what you have done or your struggles towards that.
Or just talk about something unique about you.
Like, why did you take Chinese and Japanese courses in opposed to the number of other language courses that you could have taken.

^

Hey jhua09 do you know me?? How do you know I took Japanese and Chinese???

I think you got rejected from Darthmouth and Cornell because you have a bad memory lol read your first post.

Oh wait I posted it in my thread. lol.

A little update about me: My web design company is doing pretty well. I kept asking myself why I want to go to UPenn, but I only came up with a few answers. 4 years ago I would list a book of reasons why I want to go to Penn; But the more I love the school, the less reasons I have. I guess I need to ask myself that question more often.

I’ll keep you guys updated. :)

I don’t actually understand your situation- so you were a senior this year and were rejected to dartmouth and cornell? where do you go now or where will you be going for college?
