what should i do???? usc ucla ucsd cc..

ok so here's my dilemma
im in for ucsd n got rejected from usc and ucla. usc is where i want to go because smaller class sizes, allows double majoring & minoring, lots of financial aid, good for undergrad research, good theatre/film program, Trojan family, etc.

ucla is ucla and i absolutely fell in loove, but it doesnt allow me to double major in what i want, which is theatre and bio and minor in something else. i want to go somewhere i love cause thats just me. i want to go somewhere where im happy because thats very important for me.

if i go to ucsd, it has a more rigorous bio program and im afraid that i may get a lower gpa that wont get me into the med school i want in the future, which is ucla med or ucsf (for now because i will look into other programs in a bit). and acting is also better in la overall, so going to sd will be difficult for me to commute back and forth all the time.

sO should i go to community college and transfer? if so, to usc in one year or ucla in two? if not, ucsd? but i might regret it. i really don't know. what would you do?

im also considering studying abroad for a semester if i plan to go to cc. also, would usc or ucla be better for applying to med school? anyone know how their science programs compare to each other and ucsd's? thanks

I think you should go to UCSD

Community College for 2 years (cheaper and get credits out of the way) and then transfer to USC. If you are in a college honor program, you have an even better chance for acceptance.

i dont know if i can go to CC for one year and then transfer to USC. is that possible? or does it have to be two years? would it be harder to double major and minor if i transfer in the third year?
but then again, its almost impossible to do that at ucsd.. though im considering sd. going to admit day anyway

you can definitely transfer in after only one year. it depends on how well you did that one year and which classes you took (they like to see you do writing and other GE classes)

if you have at least 32 college units they'll look primarily at your college record, not high school. But expect that if applying after one year that they will want to look at your grades for both fall and spring semesters (or fall, winter, spring quarters if your CC is on that system)

thanks! you mean of my hs transcripts? do they put alot of weight on that? because i hope they look at my college record most. i go to a pretty competitive hs so i think i can pull a 4.0 at a CC while taking some extension courses at usc n ucla.

yep. they'll probably want a high school transcript and SAT or ACT scores, but probably they will mostly ignore it (good or bad) and look at your college grades if you have enough units for them to judge you.

thank you so much. im most likely going to transfer because i dont want to regret going to ucsd even though its a good school. i think im a trojan at heart =) ill go to admit day for my parents' sakes haha anyone else want to comment? i really appreciate this!

people whose fam has a legacy at usc can set up appointments with admissions officers for a transfer plan. can i do the same?

I would call the admissions office and ask. They'll be able to let you know if you can make an in person appointment, phone appointment, email contact, etc.

Probably they are very busy right now getting everybody's admit decision out (and will be busy for a while once they start sending out transfer decisions) but they'll be able to answer your questions.

thanks again =) i have sooo many questions, but whatever it takes for usc! well, what are the cons of going to a CC and transferring? given i get a 4.0.. i know people tell me i might slack off but im not that type and i care about the long run rather than one year of no prestige (since all the kids on CC are obsessed with the brand name thing) anyone, list all the cons for CC b/c i don't want to regret making this decision.

also, is it wise to transfer to usc instead of ucla? i don't want to be a number at la and usc offers all the majoring, networking, more opps, etc, but its heccccccka expensive and the most finaid i will get is 8k (but more when i transfer since i will be living alone and independent) should i save money for grad school? btw, even if im aiming for ucsf n ucla med school, i'd gladly go to ucsd for grad school but not for undergrad. hmm, any advice is appreciated.
