in high school I did a semester long internship for A. G. Edwards & Sons (a national stock brokerage firm based in St. Louis) which was very interesting if that would help me at all for an essay or ec or whatever.

is retaking the ACT's or SAT's an option for an improvement of my chances??

Its going to be tough getting into wharton, but take it this way:
if you dont apply, your chances are zero.
If you do apply, at least you have a chance.
So forget what the others say, get your stuff straight, do your own work,
get to know your professors, receive excellent recs, write a shining essay....... and see where you get.

As for the SAT, my advice is that you submit your sat score to PENN before retaking it. That way, if you dont end up getting a satisfactory score, PENN will never know anyway, and if you do, its all the better.

Ahhhhh this year is gonna be one helluva ride

"Students are encouraged to transfer after their freshman year because we have very few spaces available for entering juniors. Transfer students who wish to matriculate into the Wharton School must do so through initial admission to the University; externally admitted transfer students are not permitted to transfer again within the University. Transfer students enrolled in the other three undergraduate schools may still take Wharton courses under the one university concept, but will not be able to transfer internally once they are at Penn. Applicants already holding undergraduate degrees will not be considered for transfer admission to Wharton. "
sorry, I was thinking bout it too but I cant see my self being lucky enough to not only be able to transfer into UPenn but afterwards being able to transfer into wharton. :(

Did you apply as a hs senior? If not, then you probably should apply to transfer as a sophomore. If you did apply and got rejected, then I would definitely wait as colleges are not too keen on accepting students they initially rejected after only one year. Just keep your grades. I must warn you though that applying for transfer as a sophomore means that you hs grades will still carry a lot of weight as only your first semester grades will be available for review.

I went to williamsville east high school in East Amherst (10 miles north of the city)......I didn't apply as a high school senior......they don't say that they won't accept junior transfers but from what I hear it's way tougher.....I guess I will have to give it a shot for sophmore year and see what happens....thanks a lot guys....

In the enitre western new york state area - williamsville east is the 2nd best public school and williamsville school district is the best school district....if that means anything to this whole process.
