What should I do/ What are my chances?

With a 3.8 GPA from a school that ranks about 55 in US News and world report with very mediocre high school grades, excellent extracurriculars, and 24 total credits, What are my chances at transfer admission to UNC (oos), UVA (oos), Vanderbilt (oos)

I currently have 4 As and a B-, but I know I will at the very least get that up to a B. How are my chances assuming my semester ends with a 3.8?

Would it be foolish to withdraw from the class that I currently have a B- in?

Do not withdraw from your class. I was accepted as an oos transfer to UVA with 2 Bs on my transcript. Your gpa (assuming you maintain a 3.8) is well above the average for UVA transfer admits so you have a good shot at an acceptance. Vandy and UNC will most likely come down to things like your essays, extracurriculars, and high school grades since a fair amount of their applicants will have 3.8+

@wolverine251 Thanks, Do you mind me asking when you transferred and some of your stats?

****The most important part of my application was my essays, I spent about 2 months on my personal statement and supplemental essays. I believe my personal statement is what outweighed my high school credentials, SATs, and blemishes on my college transcript. Make sure your reasons for transferring, to which ever school you are applying to, are concrete. There are a lot of ways that reasons for transferring can poorly reflect one’s efforts to embrace his/her’s current university rather than reflect that their current university wasn’t what they were looking for.

Hope this helped! Best of luck!

Hey @Wolverine251

@AGoodFloridian Thanks! CC threads helped me a lot during my transfer process, so I thought I’d return the favor
