I am a high school senior, and my second semester started today. I am used to a very heavy load, but i only have 3 APs, two of which require little or no work outside of class. my non-AP classes dont require a whole lot of work inside class either..
I have 4 months left of high school and im the kind of person that gets a little crazy if i dont have enough to do. Is there anything you guys wished you had done in highschool, or is there something i can learn/teach myself that will be useful in college?

(i have a job and i volunteer a lot already...)
but i have a few free evenings every night, and i dont want to waste this semester :)

reading sounds like a smart and fun activity. especially read classics/typical college material and anything related to your potential major. that's what I will be doing!

look for plays to see- often there are inexpensive tickets for Thursdays...go to museums after school or in the evening...take classes in dance, you can find some that you can just show up at that dont require commitments, walk your dog or a neighbors dog, see interesting movies, documentaries, take pictures, start looking for dorm room stuff, clean and rearange your room, try new recipes and treat your mom!!!

Experiment with Drugs, or build a high tolerance to alcohol. (I kid, I kid) ;)
What I'm doing, as Wharton4life suggested, is reading books related to my Major (Econ and to a lesser degree statistics), as well as doing **** with friends.

Set short term goals so that you have something to work towards. If you want to get fit, try going for a sixpack by the third month or get that running speed up. As long as you have something to strive for, you won't be bored.

read, watch tv, "expand your musical horizons," pay it forward, don't stop 'til you get enough, take up a new hobby, go on day (or afternoon/night, i suppose) trips...

quite a few people mentioned books. I wholeheartedly agree. read some classics, some bestsellers, especially to get a good dip into the greatest wealth of knowledge. (at first I thought books were mentioned in this thread jokingly)

First, where are you going next fall? Do they mind you having dropped AP's?

Anyhow, I guess I'd recommend taking up photography and trying to document the places, people, etc. which have made up your environment for the past 4+ years in an artistic way. That said, I'm do photo myself, so that was probably a bit biased.

Listen to weird music, appreciate some odd topic you'll never get another chance to appreciate, visit the college you'll be attending, enjoy the outdoors, see your surroundings in a new light, and try to do something to show your thanks to anyone who helped you through your highschool years...

Learn how to shoot a pistol competitively. I took target shooting classes, and its a very fulfilling hobby. You can really get into it. Remember to apply for a license in your state, and SAFETY FIRST.

Practice your driving skills.

Learn to play a musical instrument.

SIR - Subscribe to the Economist, or read it from its RSS feed online.

Pick up a hot new book which you can show to your friends and extract their reactions/criticisms.

have fun! go to the beach/lake, read for pleasure, hang out with friends, look for prom stuff, look for dorm stuff, make a scrapbook/photo album of all your friends and family, research which president to vote for, work out, learn how to cook in a microwave, try new foods, and if your going to college somewhere near you learn the area if you don't already know it!

if you are looking to expand your knowledge i would read, but i would recommend hanging out with friends. your in high school, live it up a little.
