What Should I Do?

I know I have been posting a lot on here recently, but I would really like to figure this out.

So I will be apply to about ten colleges this fall. I am doing this so I will be able to compare different FA packages as well as the opportunities available at the colleges that I will be applying to. Indiana University, University of Cincinnati, American University, and The Catholic University of America are the schools that I know for sure that I will be applying to (IU and UC are my safeties both academically and financially). My problem is what direction to take when selecting the other schools that I will be applying to. My family as the awkward EFC of $15,000 where we don't qualify for a lot of aid, but still don't have the money to pay $30,000+ per year for my education. I plan to major in International Relations (or something similar).

My stats: SAT- Reading: 560 Math: 550 Writing: 600
By the time I graduate I will have 4 AP Classes, 4 Years of a foreign language, a dual-credit math course, and all other core classes were honors classes, I also only have 4 EC's, and no community service

My G.P.A is 3.47 unweighted

My conflict is this: The other schools I had originally on my list were those such as Goucher College, Wheaton College, Arcadia College, and Simmons College. These colleges all have what I am looking for in a college, expect that don't really give out a lot of need and my parents have made it clear that they will only pay $15,000 per year for my education, the rest (if needed) will be loans. These are also colleges that I could stand a chance at being accepted at. I could apply to these schools and hope for the best when it comes to FA, or take out loans.

My other option would be to apply to schools like Mount Holyoke, Smith, Barnard, Vassar, Bryn Mawr (etc). These schools are ones which I would really love to go to, but have a small chance of getting in. My theory was that if I apply to 4-5 schools like this hopefully I would get into at least one (any of them I would be happy at) and the financial burden would be much less as these schools are generous with their FA.

Any suggestions, comments, or opinions on what I should do or which option would be better?

Side note- I know that some of you already know this but I am the same person who has the account aind555. This account had been acting up (password glitch) so I rarely got on it, however I will now be reverting back to this account as the problem has been fixed.

Thanks!

Any opinions?

For one thing, your SAT scores make your small chance of getting into the schools that you’d really love to go to smaller. I’d suggest re-taking the SAT first to raise your scores.

You probably know this already, but you should search for scholarships too, and get the FAFSA finished ASAP.

Also, you shouldn’t apply to too many “reach schools.” I think it’d be best if you applied to maybe 2 or 3 reaches rather than 4 or 5.
