What should I do?

Ok, so now I'm stuck with two options.
I was accepted to UIUC but not for business school (which is what i applied for) because they have already filled up all the slots.
I called them today and basically they gave me two options.
A) I take their option to go to a different program and basically do my Gen Ed. for a year or so and then transfer to business. This option has a deadline once I recieve the letter through the mail.
B) I CAN submit a letter of appeal and try to get into business which is what I am planning to do because I believe if I send in my first semester grades, which were a shy away from straight A's with business courses, with a strong letter of rec. from my business teacher, and a strong letter of appeal stating why i want to be in business and all my accomplishments so far in the year I may be able to sway someone over there. After my guidance counselor looked over my transcript and stuff he said he belives I SHOULD appeal.

The only problem is that the counselor at UIUC said that 90% of appeals get thrown out and other 10% are basically only if they had a technical problem on their side. Does this count as a technical problem?: They recieved my transcript but due to a middle name discrepancy with that on my transcript and the one on my application, they created a separate file for my transcript and thus delayed my appl. for a month after I submitted it before Nov. 15. Completed on Dec. 20 after I called and asked if my middle name issue may have been a problem, the lady says it was.
Basically I just want to get into business now and not have to transfer also to save face (I'm Asian) and also I heard that Freshmen business students get to attend some sort of convention and I surely do not want to miss that.
Also honors college and James Scholar would be nice, as well as business clubs.

I should be at least grateful that I was at least accepted and that I have UIC as a back up school.

All suggestions are welcomed.
Thanks.

Despite the 10% they claim to accept from appeals, I still think you should appeal, esp. with the good business courses, good business teacher recs, etc. it definitely wouldn't hurt to try. besides, if you lose your appeal, you can still go to uic in the end and transfer. it'll probably be a tedious process and like college apps all over again, it's worth it if uic business school is where your heart's set. you have my vote on appealing-- good luck!

just go to UIUC and transfer to business. it will give you an incentive to get high grades freshman year.

I guess appeal is what I'm going to have to do. It really annoys me that I had a complete application on October 25th, and they didn't look at it until they had all their slots already filled.

couldnt it just be because those who applied were more qualified? I dont know anything about your stats, so i dont mean to offend you, but thats a distinct possibility for everyone. Again, I'm not sure thats how it works, you could easily be correct.

That may be, and almost certainly is part of it, but I know of multiple people who applied super-early (September), had worse stats, and got in.
My stats are 3.9 (weighted) and 31 btw

my stats were 3.8 gpa weighted and 32 act
