What should I do?

I need to decide where to apply ED and am stuck. I really love Dartmouth, but also love Tufts. I would rather go to Dartmouth, but only marginally so, and don't want to waste my ED benefits on a school that I have absolutely no shot at. Please give me a look. Would the Dartmouth application be a waste?

Reading from this limited profile, your chances at Dartmouth ED/RD are not great. Before I go on, what does “marginally” entail? or rather, what are the reason(s) that you like Dartmouth better than Tufts?

Given that you are unhooked, I don’t think that your apparently-strong ECs are likely to overcome your stats, which are okay but not strong for D. All of those 3s on AP exams seem to reinforce this. If you do apply, I would probably not cite your AP results on the application, and I would feel a lot more optimistic with a CR above 700 or an ACT of 35. The ED round is tough, and dominated by recruited athletes and legacies.

Do you have a class rank?

Thanks for the info guys. Man, the truth sucks! Anyone else?

BTW, I love both Dartmouth and Tufts, but I really like the strength of the econ. program at Dartmouth as well as its ‘outdoorsiness.’

The Dartmouth and Tufts cultures are extraordinarily different. The Dartmouth culture is far more similar to the eating club Princeton social scene than the Tufts culture. Most people go out 3-4 nights a week, you won’t find most people being hipster or artsy at all, etc etc

The important thing is to decide which school you love the most. Although your stats aren’t perfect , they are definitely good enough to attempt either Dartmouth or Tufts in an Early Decision round. Early Decision, although still very difficult, is the best option for a school you really love, that may also be a reach. So I would say apply to whichever one you end up liking the most.

FYI, I applied to Dartmouth. I love both schools, but I liked Dartmouth a bit more. I had my interview yesterday and it went exceptionally. There were two women. Anyone want to chance me?
