Hi,
Ive just taken sat (last sat) and im expecting around 1900(due to my first and prob. last Sat) .I wanna get addmission in US college(financial aid needed).

10th class 88% up board

11th class 92% cbse

12th class 94%(surely expected)

1) Ive just taken sat so scores will be available on 23 dec 13. Now Im confused cause ive only chance in jan.. Should I take sat subject test? Or get back with my iit jee adv preparation (yes, im an iit aspirant.got 2 years coaching and sure enough to get into iits). But now im slightly reluctant towards indian eduction...

2) does i have any chance in us university (like cornell, princeton or nyu)? If u have any other university in mind suitable for me,pls mention...(best for cs)

*Ive been a scout leader(2yr)
*I won best student award in 10.
*Im an artist as well. I draw sketches and water paintings(good enough :p)
*Im not good in sports at all.
*Ive been awarded for social work in 10.
*I havnt done much in 11-12 due to iit-jee.
*Ill have recomandations from top ranked IIT qualified teachers.

So what do u guys think? Should i go furthur or end my abroad study dream??

Confused about your education. I’m interpreting this as you went to a private school primarily for Indians? Or are you a foreign student?

Anyways. To get into top colleges such as those you mentioned you should work on bringing your SAT score up, take AP classes, and yes SAT Subject Tests are sometimes even required for top schools, and if not, they will still look really good if you score high on them.

Set your sights a bit lower, especially if you need a large amount of financial aid. It really is too late to do anything that’ll raise your chances at this point.

I would mark Cornell and Princeton off… a 1900 SAT is like 300+ points from being competitive. Also, your GPA (converted to a 4.0 scale) may be a tad low. Maybe your ECs can pull you through? If you have nothing spectacular it’ll be rough.

NYU is a little more in your range, but it’s still a mid-high reach. I would almost put it out of reach if you need financial aid.
