Hi, I am currently a sophomore in college at a fairly large school. However, since my time being here I have realized that I miss my true passion of playing baseball. I decided not to play baseball in college even though I could’ve played for a variety of schools and I am now slowly realizing that I have made a mistake.
Now my question is, do you guys think it would be a bad life choice if I decided to transfer to a junior college and play there for two years then transfer to another bigger school once my grades get up?
I don’t really know what to do, my family supports what ever I decide and I need some perspective. If I decide to transfer it might be good for me because I think being at such a large school is not helping me succeed…my grades are not very good (low gpa) so maybe a smaller school would benefit me. Also I am still undeclared with a major and maybe doing this will give me some time to decide what I would like to do.
Any opinion on my situation is welcomed. Thanks.
Now that you are finishing sophomore year, you are supposed to take upper division classes in your major for the most part in the future, and CC are meant for the first 2 years of college. What would that work? And you have not played for 2 years? Did you talk to the coach at your college? I’m sorry I don’t know how sports work in college but this seems odd to me.
It sounds like you are not happy where you are at and think that playing baseball at a cc will somehow magically get you back on track. I don’t see how this would help you other than derail you more. Maybe playing baseball is good for you in ways only you can understand, but it will not change what you need to do in the moment. Have you met with your advisor, looked at your options, did a little existential soul-searching? You don’t need to play baseball to do that. And maybe, transferring is going to be best for you, but don’t pin it on needing to play baseball. Make your decision based on being realistic with yourself and what you want for your future.
Does your college have a club team? If so, they can be very competitive and include high level players. It might be the perfect thing for you.
