what should I do

I got into some schools but my parents are now telling me to go to community college not because we don’t have the money to go a 4 year already but because the schools I got into are very low ranked. Can somebody tell me what my best option is I don’t really want to live at home but I’m very unsure what to do.

Major: biology (I plane to go into premed and if that does not work out biotech or bioengineering)

Schools I got into:
University of san Francisco- 10k scholarship
UCR
SJSU

Schools I got waitlisted:
Cal Poly Pomona

I am heavily leaning toward SJSU as I like the school the most but I am very unsure if I can get into med school based on my school I want to go to undergrad to which is SJSU. My parents want me to go to community college and although it saves money I really want to get away from my parents because they are too much too handle. With this being sais what do you guys think is my best option.

Did you get enough financial aid that will cover the costs of these schools without your parents assistance? If your parents are contributing to your college education, then unfortunately they have a say in where you should go. If these schools are not affordable, why did they let you apply in the first place?

All of them are affordable except USF I think the full tuition with the scholarship comes down to around 48k but everywhere else Is affordable. Their main gripe is that SJSU and UCR are not very highly ranked schools and they think I will not succeed in medicine as many people drop out of it and since my GPA is a 3.73 weighted now. They want me to go to a CC instead but they want me to choose but im now very confuse on where I should go because my plan was to go for two years to SJSU and then transfer to another school like UC Berkeley

UCR does have a medical school and what is important as a Med School applicant, is to get a High GPA, High MCAT score and have some medically related EC’s. You can do all this at UCR. UCB is notorious for grade deflation and cut-throat competitiveness for Pre-Med’s especially. Go to a school where you will be the “big fish” and do well.
Rankings and prestige will not get you into Medical school.

Since I like Sjsu more should I just go there. Its closer to my family, the area is good for technology and since biotech is my backup plan I was highly considering it since its the silicon valley. And if I finish my four years at SJSU I wont be at a disadvantage just because of my school

A happy student is a successful student, so if SJSU is your choice, make it work and do your best.

Okay thank you for your advice
