What should I do?

Okay here's the deal.

I am in love with Yale.

I was deferred.

I'm going to be deferring whatever college I end up matriculating at to study in Germany for a year if I get a scholarship that I think that I will be getting.

I am writing a letter to the Yale Admissions Office updating information and telling them why I am smitten with Yale and why Yale should be smitten with me.

Should I:
(a) Tell them that if I don't get in, I will be applying from Germany again next year.
(b)Just tell them that I am going to be studying in Germany next year.
(c)Just give them other updates
(d)It doesn't really matter.

Thanks.

(e) I don't really know, but I just wanted to give encouragement from a fellow deferree and let you know that I really hope you get into Yale RD since you love it so much, but if you don't, to keep an open mind and find another school that you can love just as much, even if it doesn't seem possible now.

PS - Germany will be awesome. You have a lot to look forward to.

Being deferred sucks. I hate it. It's the waiting that kills me. I keep having to suppress the little voice inside of me that says I still have a chance of getting in. I thought I would be done with that by now!

Sara, I think the only blessing about April is that you don't have to make it ALL about one school. If I do get into Yale (or any other highly selective school, for that matter) in April, I'll be very, very happy and surprised. But if not, I have a list full of other schools I'm applying to that I can be excited about instead.

I know being deferred must suck....but....think about not having ANY chance whatsoever at Yale. Right now, Jessica Simpson has a better chance than me.

If you like Yale enough to risk not going to Germany or Yale, do Not do (a) or (b). Stay deferred and send updates (c). You would only do (a) if you were already accepted and wanted to request more financial aid or something. Yale would not go out if its way to compete for an applicant it just deferred.
If you would rather not jeopardize your Germany thing with a possible rejection from Yale, do (B).
That said, I hope you give Yale another shot if you think you have some chance of getting in.

I'm going to stay deferred. I just meant meant that I might tell them that I love them soooo much that I will be applying again next year if they reject me in april (while in Germany)
