What should I do?

what should i do if my father doesn't want me to join a lot of ec's at my school? How do I have great ec's then?

If he doesn't want you to join a LOT, then maybe the few that you do join should be really worthwhile ones that you're committed to because it's always the commitment that is more important than the quantity.

If it's that serious an issue, you could always mention it on the application somewhere or in an essay even.

stick to a few that you can excel in

join something you could get a leadership position in

so like one leadership position is good enough?

Usually when a parent doesn't want you to do a lot of ECs, it's because they are concerned that your grades will suffer as a result.

If this is the case, then you should consider their concerns. Will you be able to keep your grades up if you pursue a sport--or band--or the debate team--or all three?

It's a valid question--and you need to remember that the grades are MUCH, MUCH more important in determining if you get into the college you want than the ECs are. So convince them that you can do the EC and still keep the grades high, and they will let you pursue the ECs. If you can't keep the grades high, then I agree with them--skip the ECs and focus on your classes.
