Well i am a high sschool senior and i am about to apply for colleges and i am really confused right now... i dont have the best SAT scores or GPAs, but i started taking classes that was recommended for my future major architecture since i was a freshman. I was determined to be an architect for the rest of my life but right now i am really frustrated because i dont know what to do. I originally wanted to go to either one of the Cal Polys, and i thought i have a good chance of getting in, but i found out it is really hard to get into either of them if your major is architecture. so.... i just lost sight of my future so you guys pls help me out. Should i go to Pasadena City College for 2 yrs or so and then transfer to Cal Poly, or should i go to Cal Poly under another major, or perhaps an undecided major and switch the nxt yr to architecture?

well my GPA so far is 3.2 non weighted, took Architectural drafting, AP Cal AB and BC, and advanced Art(it helps to be artistic i guess) my SAT score is REALLY LOW, 1550, but i plan i retaking it.

Pls reply and help me out here, any comments are welcome!

please DO NOT go to cal poly under another major and try to switch to architecture. cal poly does not want you to do that, which is why it's nearly impossible to switch (especially into really impacted majors such as architecture and engineering). you don't want to be stuck with a crappy major that you don't want to be in.

with your stats, cal poly might be a reach, but i think you would get into cal poly pomona. cal poly can be pretty lenient about bad GPAs if you have a really good SAT score, so work on that! if you can get like 2000+ on your SAT then you have a much better chance. having taken all those architecture related courses in high school will be a plus. cal poly will ask you about that.

if you do end up transfering, i suggest looking through cal poly's architect flowchart of courses and try to follow that at a cc. unlike UCs and other schools, cal poly starts with major courses right away because a lot of them are pre-requisits for other classes. there are lots of people who take a lot of GE classes and a few major classes at a CC and got rejected from cal poly but got in a lot of good UCs.
