What should I do?

I received my semester grades. I received a C+ in Honors Physics. I still have a 4.1 weighted average. I have 2 A’s in Spanish and Band an a B in AP Cal. I know senior grades are important. Do you think I will really be hurt?

ya better watch out for the raw tomatoes to be thrown at you. jeezes look athe other posts will yah?

Which colleges are you applying to?

Contact the colllege and ask. However, there's every indication from what I've seen here on CC over the years that colleges will withdraw offers for horrendous grade drops such as getting Ds, Fs, but won't withdraw offers for the kind of minor drop you are describing. The colleges also expect a little senioritis. "Little" might mean a "C" from a student who has been basically a straight "A" one.

Why do they call senioritis? dd has the load of 4 AP and 1 research class, so most rigorous year ever and is having a hard time keeping all grades up, so what one extra B. She's not slacking and has more leadership than ever as a senior.

Anyway OP, is it a C+ or a B? you post it different elsewhere. So how can we tell you anything when we don't know how this compares to what you had before? How can anyone help after the semester ended. Ask for help, from your teachers, when you are struggling and there's still time to do something. Otherwise no use crying over spilt milk. It is what it is, you will get in or not. Or did you want to rush out and apply to some last minute safety schools?

Senioritis doesn't have anything to do with the course load or the leadership, but the lack of motivation to work harder in high school that sets in for many seniors after they are accepted to colleges.

PPl seem to refer to senioritis as grades going down, so that is what I meant. With a bigger course load and more AP's isn't it understandable? I certainly think so.

Does Band count anyway in GPA? Isn't that EC? Mostly what may hurt is no Eng?

How can there be no Eng? At my high school, every student is required to take English every year.

This will hurt you a bit. Let me give you an analogy to help you better understand your plight. Basically, second semester senior year is like the russian front in 1943. Your a conscript in Stalingrad heroically fighting off the krauts. Your B is like taking shrapnel in the thigh - you might lose your leg, but you'll live. The C however is analogous to a 11 cm tiger tank shell castrating you on its way to another tank. In sum, it's going to take a bit more then penicillin to get you out of this one.

WE use the block. That's why no English. I am lucky somehow I managed a B- instead of a C.
