So, I am sort of in this predicament. I don't know whether to participate in the COSMOS program at UCI (astrophysics cluster), or take a pre-calculus class over the summer so that I can take AP Calc. next year. I am really interested in the astrophysics program, but I also need pre-calculus to stay on track with all the things I have going on in the future. What should I do?

I don't know...but probably NOT follow the advice of total strangers on an anonymous message board who don't know you.

I am in a similar situation, and unfortunately I'm probably just gonna take precalc at a local summer school so I can take the SAT II Math 2 next year.

If only I did not get put in Pre-Alg twice during middle school.. I wish I cared about school back then.

Wow, so you can take AP Calculus without HS Calculus? At my daughter's school (in Canada), they need one before the other. HS Calculus and THEN AP.

Why do you need AP Calculus anyway? I understand needing AP courses, but one that one in particular?

if it's absolutely necessary for you to take AP calc nest year, take the class? but d'yer maker is right.. i think the situation may be a bit too personal/complicated for simple advice from people who don't know you

I'd take the pre-calculus class. Stay on track to get as much math as possible in high school. 2 years of calculus is the ideal, if your school offers it.

The more math you take in high school, the better. Won't that COSMOS class be available next summer?

Just my opinion, I'm a mother with kids who have been your age and one about to pass thru that age.
