International relations is an awesome major =). It was my first choice when I got here, but I later decided I didn't want to take a full year of foreign language =P. (All College of Letters & Sciences majors require that you take 1 full year of a foreign language, but you can test out of it.)

is it really difficult to double major?

Depends on how much work you're willing to take on. For example, an English major is 68 units, and a Political Science major is 72, so 140 units total. You need 180 units to graduate, so you still would still be able to take GE classes, etc. It really depends on which majors you want to double major in. For example, theres no way you can double major with an Aeronautical Engineering major and something else, cus the major is pretty much planned out for you. If you specify which majors you were thinking about, I could help you more.
