I am a current student at Brown University, but I have decided to transfer to the Naval Academy. I have been nominated and accepted, and I definitely plan on accepting the appointment. If anyone has been in a similar “transfer” situation, I would like to know what to expect of USNA culture, and also I’d like to know if I will be treated differently than a straight-from-high-school direct.
Thanks!
Intensely demanding (physically and mentally), maxed out days, highly structured. It might very well be the hardest thing you ever do. Doubtful that USNA culture is at all similar to Brown culture other than both communicate in the English language and both have classrooms. LOL.
In some ways yes, in most ways not. Some adjustments to your freshman classes will be made to account for coursework already completed (although you will still take a full academic load). Since Brown is considered to be much further to the left than USNA, and effete by comparison, you might get some heavy teasing.
No, I have not been in a similar position. As you can see, I went ROTC.
And, by the way, CONGRATULATIONS. Anchor’s Away!
