is it easy? hard? you need 10/30 pts to pass the class, otherwise you get an incomplete.

i remember she said something that 2/3 will be on the lab experiments (what exactly about them? like describe how do we do this technique or something?) and 1/3 is NMR.

Its sooooo easy. At least when I took it last summer. The questions on lab experiments will be on things like what equipment you would use for such and such and the techniques you have used. You’re given an hour. Most people finish in 30 minutes.

Just be sure that you are familiar with the concepts that you learned in lab. E.g. polarities, how does tlc work, which compounds show up when you use uv light, melting point capillaries, recrystallization and solvents, etc.

how’d you guys do? i was a little confused about the TLC …(for some reason, i thought ethyl acetate was polar…mindfart), but was the molecule with the NH2 group near the very top, the one with the OH and carbonyl was in the middle, and then the one with just the carbonyl was at the bottom? i’m not sure.

also, that extraction problem was a bit tricky.

So, all the grades are in. I got a possible 110/130 pts, which according to the syllabus, gets me an A of some sort. I shouldn’t be expecting any surprises right? Like, I will for sure, get an A of some sort?

You’ll be getting a B.
A B for bexcellent effort.
Just playing. It’ll probably be an A, but don’t be surprised at A- depending on the class. (If the syllabus says 80%+ is A- to A)
