I'm a bit new to the whole boarding school concept, but I'm thinking of applying next year for 2008. The only thing right now that I'm worried about is the interview. I've heard that the interview is a chance for me to ask questions about the school and vice versa. Since a lot of people here seem to have already done their interviews, I hope you guys will maybe help me out and tell me:

What will they ask me?

Should I be completely honest about EVERYTHING?

In general, what "type" (i.e. extremely nice, a bit rigid, etc.) of person will interview me?

If you search this forum for "interview," you will find several discussions about interviews. In general, you will be interviewed by someone in admissions. They are the salespeople of the school, so (in general), they will put you at ease.

It's very easy, really. Are you normally shy or outgoing (introverted or extroverted)? At Andover, I simply had a discussion with my interviewer, and it went very well. Just be yourself, smile a lot, and relax.

It's not a test, and if you are nervous, then you won't do as well.

I would say it is a test, but it was the most enjoyable test I've ever taken. For people whom are very shy, or do not enjoy talking to people, the interview can be difficult though. If you are, then you should try to practice a bit. Mostly, though, the interviewers try to make you feel at ease. Basically, you want to present yourself to them in the best way possible. In regard to honestly, lying is not wise, but you do not have to tell them everything (i.e. they ask you why you quit a club and it was because you got in a fight with the instructor, etc.), and more personal things are up to you.
