Im a transfer student and have an interview at CMC in two weeks. Should I "study" up on CMC history and programs? I already know alot in general about CMC, but Im wondering if this is a more laid back or formal interview and what questions to expect.

It’s pretty laid back. It was my favorite interview out of the 3 I had at Pomona, Harvey Mudd, and CMC. I would just make sure you have a few good questions about CMC (don’t over-research!), and have answers to questions like “Who’s a contemporary hero of yours?” and “What’re your friends like?” They ask the typical interview questions and then have more interesting/fun ones at the end.

Really, don’t stress about it. The interview isn’t about grilling you, it’s about getting to know you outside of your paper application.

My daughter’s interview last fall was a rapid-fire-question, job interview style, of interview. She felt her improv experience was immensely helpful. It’s not an exam about CMC, but to see how you “fit”, especially regarding leadership (give examples). Not a cakewalk interview.

No suit.
If guy, polo shirt and khaki pants, belt, nice loafers kind of thing (shirt tucked in pants).
They are considered “conservative” but in the realm of the education field. Maybe look at photos CMC selected for their website.
