don't expect anything. It's not worth it. This is a very selective school and anything goes stats wise unless you are some sort of genius (and even then it is no sure bargain). I know a large number of people deferred or rejected from "dream schools" where they were expecting to get in (well, maybe not expecting, but at least really really hoping to the point of over-optimism) and a lot of people were disappointed. The best thing is to have a list of safeties, reaches, and matches that you all like equally so if you get rejected to one, the blow isn't as hard. I got deferred this year and I know of several adults who expressed disappointment for me because they were familiar with my apps and thought I would get in. After the evening I checked the letter, though, it has barely bothered me and now I am actually a bit glad that I got deferred because I have been thinking more and more about the other fantastic schools I might get to go to instead of Brown (of course, I still love Brown too). Anyway, I'll step off the soapbox now.

You seem like a strong applicant, but again don't get your hopes up and remember that Brown is a crapshoot. Good luck with everything.

thanks for your post. I know that Brown in a reach for me but I saw lots of people who got in with stats worse than mine... I am just hoping for the best :)

I have applied to several safeties and applying to reach schools now... so I won't be surprised to not get in

I think you should definitely apply...I frankly don't think that you should be discouraged to apply anywhere just because you think or someone else thinks that you may not have a chance. Have more faith on the college admissions people and your hard work. They want to see students who are different and will add to the quality of their student body. Scores don't make it or break it...seriously!

So, if you love Brown, apply there. You never know what they are looking for in an applicant.
Best of luck! :)

Hoping for the best is, in my opinion, the best attitude to have. Again, Brown is a reach for all of us and your stats look great. I was not saying to expect not to get in (that's what my post sounds like in retrospect...), I was saying, try not to have the attitude one way or the other (either, "OMG I'm so gonna get in", or, "oh man, I seriously doubt I have a chance") Again, sorry to imply something negative. Not what I meant at all! :-)
