I don't get admitted into the business program. I want to major in Marketing but my grades haven't been the best and I think I'm screwed. CSU Sacramento has a Communications program with a concentration in Public Relations, I could minor in Marketing if I do that. Would that be recommended? How would that look to future employers. Would a different route be recommended all together if I want to do something in Marketing for living?

I was also thinking about going a completely different direction. I love American History and feel like I could teach it in high school or junior high school. My problem with that is the low demand for history teachers.

I do know that either way, I would like to go to grad school for something whether it's for my MBA or for a credential.

I am completely lost and have no idea what direction I should take if I do not get admitted into the business program.

If you want to do business, what about economics if you don’t get into the business program? It’s a good major if you want to get a MBA.

why would you want to major in marketing… its a useless degree.

No lie and not just stereotyping…I attend a top 30 program and marketing majors have to keep a sub 3.6 to even have a shot at a non-sales job.

There are plenty of non sales marketing/communication jobs out there. You do not need a 3.6 to be a PM or assistant account exec at an Ad Agency or media firm like Ogilvy. Most people just don’t know where to look and do not understand what jobs are available for their major, especially marketing and communications.

If you enjoy American History, you should stick with it. If you are open to relocating, then teaching isn’t a bad choice.

What, they have to keep a sub (as in below) 3.6 GPA to have a shot at a non-sales job? Anyway, how hard can it be to keep above 3.6 in marketing? Unless you constantly get screwed over by your group members, those classes are ridiculously easy.
