What should I major in undergrad if planning to get MBA?

I've read in a couple threads that it is better to major in something other than business in your undergrad if you're planning to get your MBA.

Apparently this shows diversity to future employers, experience in diff. areas, etc. etc. I am planning to go into either marketing or management... Any suggestions?

I've read that if you want to go into marketing, you should do sociology/social psychology, and if you want to do management, you should do liberal arts. Could someone elaborate on this? (like what types of liberal arts? other suggestions?)

And of course for those who disagree with this route-- why? Is it better just to major in marketing/management in your undergrad and just follow through?

Any major is fine. There is no "If _, then _" for a business career. Getting a job (and the skills required for it) is not an exact science.

You should probably major in economics.

Major in whatever gets you the best job opportunities. If you attend an ivy or a school of that caliber, any major will do as you'll have opportunities to interview with Consulting/IB firms, given that you have a decent GPA. If you attend a less prestigious school, then something more specialized like engineering or accounting maybe better. Your major isn't as important as the job you get post graduation, and how you perform at the job.
