Personally I love learning things I’m interested about at the moment I’m double majoring in accounting and computer science that’s not going to change however I want to study a minor as well. I’m debating sociology , African , American studies or finance . Any help or debates on what I should choose will help me a lot . I also plan to go to law school , but I feel id rather just take a coulee classes regarding law school than to just waist a full blown minor on that. Any help would be great thanks . And I know Ima freshman I have time but I know what I wanna do its just which path I should take . I feel since I’m young I should be able to learn as much as I can while I can you know
Why minor in anything at all? Just take the classes you’re interested in taking. It doesn’t have to be a minor.
^What @AuraObscura said. No need to minor.
Also, you will never stop learning. So don’t take the attitude that you should “still learn while you can.” You will learn for the rest of your life, as long as you are open to it.
It’s not the attitude , I meant a formal education , I’m aware knowledge doesn’t stop . And I want to minor , please answer what I asked .
This isnt what I asked, I asked which minor would benefit me more based off what I WANT TO DO. I am fully aware that I will learn the rest of my life. However, at the age of 18 and as a college freshman I am in a positoin where I can obtain all the formal education that I would like. AND I WANT a minor please answer the question that I asked or provide information to help me make a decision anything else you can keep to yourself
It doesn’t matter which minor you choose, in terms of law school admissions or in being a successful lawyer. There’s no way for anyone to tell you what you “should” minor in based on “what you want to do” because it doesn’t matter. If you want to get a minor, you should minor in whichever one you are most interested in, and there’s no way anyone here can tell you that.
Look at course descriptions for classes that you would be taking with each minor to see which one has the most courses you want to take. If you have the time, take a course in each subject to see which one interests you the most. Perhaps, you could look into which department has awesome professors or the greatest selection of courses you can choose from (small departments tend to have a very limited course selection each term, while large departments tend to have more classes offered with more sections every term, which may make it easier to finish the minor).
Okay I personally think you are doing way too much school. Two Majors, a minor and then law school! That’s way more than needed. Also law school is now pointless as beginning lawyers can’t find jobs as they have no experience and if they do they are way underpaid. But here you go:
Accounting- Finance Minor
Computer Science- a computer related minor
Preparing for Law School- Physcology
This is a public forum; sometimes you are going to get answers that provide different information than what you precisely asked for, since forum members here intend to be helpful rather than merely robots. It is more helpful to tell you that it doesn’t matter what you minor in (at all) that it is to randomly pick something off your list to satisfy you.
The reason I made the comment I did is that lots of college students are afraid that This Is It, and that college is the last time they’re going to be able to pick up skills or knowledge they want. While it is a really unique time in your life, it’s not the end of your education, which is the point I was trying to make. (Your formal education doesn’t have to stop either; many employers reimburse tuition for classwork completed and you could always take classes on the side.)
Anyway, if you must have a minor, it should be relevant to your interests and give you an interesting supplement to your major. So, if you are interested in law surrounding discrimination and equal opportunity (like affirmative action, EEOC complaints, etc.) African American studies could be good. Or sociology, because sociology involves that, too. If you want to go into corporate law a finance minor is a really good additional minor to have. No one can really answer this for you - it has to be a very personal decision based on your career goals and interests.
