So I got my subject test scores back today and they weren't great but I didn't actually study or even really look at the material so that was kind of expected. I signed up to take the SAT in December but I'm not sure whether I should take the Subject tests again or the SAT I. It will be my last opportunity because I'm a senior. On the subject tests I got a 720 Literature, 660 US history, and 630 Math 2 (I'm taking precal now and math is my worst subject) but on the regular SAT I got 2130. On the ACT though I got a 33 (36 reading, 36 English, 32 science (a little lower than the 35 in science I got the first time) and 29 in math (again I hadn't done trig yet). Should I try the subject tests again or just the SAT?

Any ideas?

First, are you sure you can switch from SAT to subject tests? May be perfectly OK since you already have a slot, but I hadn’t thought about it. Assuming you plan to apply to places that require SAT subject tests, then the schools probably take them seriously, though it’s the one stat they never report. If you aren’t applying for a technical major or to a school that wants a math score, I guess you could just not report the math, since most schools that require the tests only ask for two. Otherwise, you might want to do a quick brush up on history and math and go for the subject tests. Obviously, I don’t know what the answer is; just throwing out something to think about.
