What should I wear?

I have an on-campus interview and then a tour of the campus one hour after the interview starts. What should I wear?

Thanks in advance...

Ice... lots of ice...

I'd go with "The University of Chicago" emblazened on your chest in maroon. and a hat. definitely go with the hat. something fancy, but not TOO fancy- you want to look natural. maybe a top hat?

hmmm...what to do!

Lol, Chicago is the school where you shouldn't really need to dress to impress. I mean, go business casual. Bundle up, obviously. Dress shirt and slacks, maybe a tie should be fine. The adcoms were mostly in sweaters and slacks when I went there.

And remember..it will be excruciatingly cold there. ANd it will be snowing. Don't be afraid to wear a nice jacket over everything you're wearing. No one will care.

business casual is fine - docker's/khakis, long-sleeved shirt, and/or sweater. No tie needed. Unless it's snowing, I'd recommend leather shoes. Obviously, keep a jacket/coat handy for outdoors tour.

Business casual is right. Leave the bling-bling at home.

Here's a useful source of advice.

<a href="http://www.career.vt.edu/JOBSEARC/BusCasual.htm%5B/url%5D">http://www.career.vt.edu/JOBSEARC/BusCasual.htm</a></p>

I wore a sweater, khakies and a derby (think bowlerish) hat... well I always have the hat. Some of the other interviewees were in shorts (one month ago, still in the low 50s) and oversized jerseys.

Wear what you feel comfortable in. If a little more formal makes you feel more confident - go for it. If more formality makes you uncomfortable - be casual. The interviewer is going to be concerned with that's inside your head, not whats on it.

I like my idea.

I wore one of my vintage sweaters. I had a lengthy talk about my vintage clothing collecting.
