What should I write about?

Would writing about either of these topics be appropriate for the personal essay?

  1. The time I got robbed of many of my personal possessions yet still felt obligated to complete everything I needed to do that night(work ethic).
  2. The time I was arrested for unlawful possession of alcohol, suspended 10 days from school(one time mistake, only disciplinary measure during high school) but kept my grades in complete tact and volunteered to serve as a 'resource' going against drug/alcohol abuse.

I don’t know why you think talking about getting arrested for such a reason…would be a good idea in any way…I see what you are saying- oh I did this really bad thing, but I know better. I even work to help others get out of their situations…

Go with number 1. That sounds far more interesting to me.
