ok I have no idea what im going to write for question #3 (Open-ended)
When I was in high school, I wrote about my ed up life. Growing up in big family. Dad practices polygamy and has 5 wives. Have 7 half sisters and 2 half brothers. Moved to USA alone. Live with cousins who don't give a * about me. Been taking care of myself since I was 15. Blah blah blah

Then got rejected from UCB and UCLA lol!!!

so I don't know what to write. what should I write about? What do you guys write in ur personal statement?

Good News for You: Assuming you are applying for Fall '08, there is no Open-Ended Question for the transfers this year. You only have to write two essays instead of three.

Follow the directions carefully and respond to these two prompts:

Prompt #1 (transfer applicants)
What is your intended major? Discuss how your interest in the subject developed and describe any experience you have had in the field – such as volunteer work, internships and employment, participation in student organizations and activities – and what you have gained from your involvement.

Prompt #2 (all applicants)
Tell us about a personal quality, talent, accomplishment, contribution or experience that is important to you. What about this quality or accomplishment makes you proud and how does it relate to the person you are?

You'll think of something. A sense of humor in parts is always good.

lets say you're applying to similar yet different majors at different Uc's like poli sci & social welfare or criminal justice..how are you suppose to write your personal statement?

You don't have to specifically indicate your major. Since your major's all under social science division, just say you are a social science major and tell them why you happen to be interested in studying social science. I mean, it would be very weird that a person put Sociology for one school and then Chemistry for the other. Even though your major might be different they will all be related to each other to some degree, so the best approach would be to find similarities and relationships between each majors and very broadly write about why you want to study that field.
