I want to go to U of I quite bad now, since I am literally forced to go to a Community College, even though that was my clear last resort. I am/was willing to go to any university, but I can't, because of stupid reasons.

Currently, I don't have what it takes to go to U of I, I'm a senior in High School, and my grades are definitely not good enough to get accepted, it would almost be a joke if they let me in right now.

I just want to know what my grades should be at a CC IF I want to go to u of I after two years. Oh, and I am in-state too.....

I plan on majoring in either Psychology/Sociology. So In the Liberal Arts area, what should my minimum GPA be during my two years at a CC? If I want to transfer to U of I afterwards.

I would go for at least a 3.4 GPA Urbana champaign is a good school and I dont think it is significantly easier to get in as a transfer. Good luck!

Are you sure you dont want to try getting in as an incoming freshman? its always worth a shot.

My cousin, a few years ago, went to CC for 2 years. He needed a 3.2 to get into UIUCs Civil Engineering program. At the end of his second year he got a 3.28 and they accepted him, no questions asked. The GPA requirement likely have gone up, though.

What is needed for transfer to UIUC varies among programs and varies from year to year – how many transfers are accepted depends on how many seats have opened up for any particular time of transfer, the fewer open seats the higher the GPA needed and the more the lower. In any event your goal should be for as high as possible. You can usually assume a 3.0 is minimal to even get a look but likely that won’t be anywhere near high enough for transfer into psychology. Also understand the timing of transfer rules: if you attempt for after first year, your high school grades and tests scores will still be considered for admission and perference is given then to those who likely would have been admitted first year if they had applied. Try to transfer into third year and college grades control and high school record and test scores are not a factor.

Yeah, I have to go to a CC for the next two years, not going to transfer after the first year. So my high school records will not be relevant.

Is sociology usually as full as Psychology or is it generally the same? It seems like more people are interested in Psychology, at least from what I see.

Minimum to get a look in sociology is usually about 2.7. Again you have to ignore minimums because if you really want to be admitted you are going to need higher and should be focusing on getting high grades.

Yeah I know, definitely. I’m aiming for a GPA of 3.5 or higher in CC…mind as well. Then again, I wouldn’t even be surprised If I get disappointed again and I can’t go into any universities after my two years in CC.
