What should rising seniors be doing this summer?

6) get and read harry potter 7 because none of your friends will talk about ANYTHING ELSE FOR TWO WEEKS AFTER AND YOU WONT HAVE A CLUE WHAT THEY'RE TALKING ABOUT UNLESS YOU READ IT FIRST.

I swear, I might just spoil the ending for my friends who're having it delivered by staying up all night when it comes out.

Or, you could read a good book, as opposed to Harry Potter, which is a bad book. If you want to prepare for college, you should not read books written for children. Unless they started to teach Harry Potter in college English classes, of course..

^ :O (10 char)

we're still kids, dude. i'd rather not trade away my childhood so quickly to become an adult.

and screw dedicating all of my waking time to college; everyone's gotta have some downtime, and HP is a pretty absorbing series. i'm not volunteering much this summer, not gonna kill myself. gonna do my applications, do my summer homework, attend the columbia summer program, and chill. bring on the deathly hallows while i'm at it.

volunteering 2 days a week at the hospital, week long mission trip to Mississippi and then a whole lot of relaxing. I'm not going to even think about the SAT until I get my scores back on the 21st.

I'm starting my applications and essays for my EA colleges, and i'm visiting some other colleges, working at quizno's, and volunteering at the hospital

but so far i've been mostly doing my rubik's cube and playing video games and sleeping

cs08carolina, are you volunteering at Wake Forest Baptist Hospital by any chance?

hmmm...quiznos. :]

1.start on apps
2.get a job ( senior year is expensive)
3.try to take a math or english class (or both)
4.start getting people to proof read your essay
5.instead of getting a job and you know what carrer field you would like to go to, start interning.

Most college apps won't be available until late July. So, in August, as schools comes closer and closer, start filling out applications. In the time before July, consider studying for ACTs or SATs and finish summer reading you need to do. Perhaps study abroad? (I'm going to Tokyo in July ^^) Get a job, do this, do that, lol.

The essays for Common App are always the same:
1) Most significant EC
2) there are several choices, but the last choice is always "topic of your choice"

College-specific essays don't usually change so you can look at old apps for the questions.
