What should school have/do in electronic submission for NMSC??

Yikes! Daughter received a letter w/a code for online submission of her essay, etc for NMSC. She completed this, and I got and completed the online parent permission on 9/8/10. I called NMSC today with some other questions, and asked if they had received anything from HS yet. Nope. Asked if kiddo's stuff went straight to them when she zapped "submit" or stopped by the HS first. He said it would have gone to HS. (Don't know exactly that works, and since she can't get back into it after submit, impossible to check.) So I emailed her GC. Her response, "Nothing has been sent to me from Nat'l Merit." Yikes!! Deadline is 10/13 for all stuff to be in!

So...can anyone tell me 1.) what does the school receive or do in this new electronic submission process? 2.) does it go to principal, perhaps?

Panic mode here....

We were also nervous when we hit the submit button, but it is my understanding that the application first goes to a designated individual at the high school who goes in and completes the high school portion of the app. They then are responsible for submitting it to NMSC.

^ Thanks, dignified1. Do you know who the “designated individual” is? Principal, GC, secretary? Daughter’s GC said she doesn’t have it…would principal, perhaps? All I know, so far, is that NMSC doesn’t have anything (except the SAT scores, which were sent by us!)

I think it depends on who the high school puts in charge of it. At Ds high school, the applications went to a person who is on the high school staff, but not a counselor. I had actually never heard of her before, but she really does work there – I think she’s a secretary.

BTW. Ds high school has between 10-15 NMSFs every year. So, the staff is generally very experienced in the whole process.
