After looking at (name of applicant)'s current circumstances, satisfying application fees would put considerable financial pressure on the applicant. On behalf of the applicant, I request a fee waiver for the application fee.

Could this form be used by international students as well?? Or only by the ones in the States??

PS: I e-mailed the schools I’m applying to, asking about how to get waived. They all said I just had to have my school counselor send a letter explaining about my family’s financial hardship. So do I have to just send the letter by the counselor?

The GC should send the letter requesting the waiving of the application fee (just like if the student has a fee waiver, most of them require the signature of the GC).

THe NACAC fee waiver states:

As a secondary school member of the National Association for College Admission Counseling or a state and regional affiliate, I am requesting a waiver of the application fee on behalf of: (student). Since most international schools are not members of the NACAC, their fee waiver may end up being rejected.

Since the vast majority of schools are not need blind to international students (meaning your ability to pay wil be a factor in the admissions process), IMHO an international student requesting or using a fee waiver is really counter productive.

At the end of the day, not every school considers fee waivers, and they ultimately decide whether or not to accept them.

According to the college board:

If a student is eligible for a SAT fee waiver, they are eligible for a college fee waiver.
