Just wondering. Thanks a lot folks.

We use primarily weighted GPA in my daughter's high school, although unweighted is also shown on the transcript.

Weighting allows colleges to understand the toughness of the courses taken by students. Lets face it, a 3.6 unweighted GPA with all regular courses isn't as tough a load as a 3.6 from a magnet school with all honors and AP courses. Weighting tries to remedy this problem.

In our school and at most schools, an "A"=4 points, a "B" =3 points etc.

However, in our school, if you took an honors or AP course, an A=5 points, B= 4 points and C=3 points. Thus, you get an extra point for each honors and AP courses. This way colleges can compare applicants not only by GPA but also by the toughness of the curriculum.
