Davidson College - Belk dorm - what size TV works best and where does it sit in the room?

No TV at all for dorm room I would say; there will be one in the common room and there won’t be much time for watching TV in your room. Belk rooms aren’t huge–they are typical dorm rooms and it is hard to envision where a TV could go in a first-year dorm anyway. I would put TV selection and purchase at the very bottom of the to-do list–actually not put it on at all for now.

My daughter was a freshman in Belk two years ago and she did have a TV, although she didn’t watch it much. There were no lounges on the 2nd floor, girls wing that year because they were made into dorm rooms. I don’t know if this changes each year.

I think she found she didn’t really have time to watch TV and there were so many events that she preferred, to watching TV. She had one last year also, but I think she, and her friends, watched most of their favorite shows online at their convenience.

I lived in Richardson last year, smaller rooms than Belk, and had a 15 inch TV. Like others, I didn’t watch it much - usually about 30 minutes a day to catch up on the news and a few times a month to watch a movie. But you will definitely find room. I lofted by bed, put my dresser under it and placed the TV on top. It worked out to be a nice set up.

Welcome to Davidson!

My d has a 22" TV and put it on the shelf above the desk, facing a futon on the opposite wall. She’s not in Belk so I don’t know the setup there. I have no idea when she’ll have the time to watch much of anything due to the well-known workload. I agree with Mattmom, not a priority.

TV is important! It’s a great escape when work piles up. If you don’t want to buy a television, it’s effective to just get a tv tuner for your current laptop. Dell Studio 15 laptops come with a built in remote that pops out of the side like the cd player. I used the coupon code F2JP12F17NX915 at this address <a href=“Computers, Monitors & Technology Solutions | Dell USA”>Computers, Monitors & Technology Solutions | Dell USA; and saved on the cost of a laptop AND television.

Haha just taking a peek at other people’s responses, I’m gonna differ. I have a 32’ TV, and most guys on my freshman hall had a TV. It’s great to have just to relax. Certainly you don’t need a 32’ TV, but with some work you can fit a pretty darn big TV in your dorm room.
I don’t think they’ve upgraded/renovated the belk common rooms, but as of last year, they were pretty old and the TV’s were basically worthless.
