This is a major block for me. I can't think of anyhting to write on!! Unlike many other people I don't have or can't think of a significant event to talk about. I am in perfect health except for being severly hearing impaired, but it seems like a stupid topic to me. I could talk about my move to India from the US, but I feel that that is too cliched. Perhaps I could talk about being inspired into CS (my interst), but ince again, this comes off in my mind as cliched. So...What kind of topic should I choose? What kind of topic did you choose? Side question: How long and how many topics did you go through, before you settled on the final one?

The topic is not the main thing. Any topic can make for a great essay; any topic can make for a poor essay. A great essay on a "cliche" topic is all the more impressive for being outstanding in a crowded field. A poor essay on a unique topic stands out in a negative way.

The best topic for you is the one that allows you to be personal, specific, honest and revealing. People can mention their own topics if they wish, but a topic that is great for someone else could be unhelpful for you.

You best plan imo is to look inside and think about what you are or do that is specific and revealing. For example, I read a very good essay about someone's experience playing their musical instrument. This topic might seem to be "cliched", but in the hands of this fine student the result was personal and revealing and the writer was admitted to a fine, highly competitive college.
