“Donated large sums of money”

We know people who have.

Also most of my EC’s have only one year. I am technically only a beginner in a lot of them ('cept Tae Kwon do) but I feel that. you know. most other people probably get awards anyway.

haha crickett! i totally agree about personality. I don’t think it will matter how good you are to an admissions person if your a complete jerk. (not that i’m saying your a jerk Vaizard, this is a general thing)

Thanks lol.
Is it possible for an admissions person to tell someone “you are a strong candidate?”

My friend said that that’s what the Andover person told him.

I’m sort of skeptical.

ya, it’s possible. i’ve got some pretty good remarks. but who knows, maybe they do that to everyone! what schools are you applying to?

I bet they say that to 85% of the people who apply.

We’ve heard it from some and not from others. One school where it was clear after the tour that we would not be applying, I’m sure my son didn’t do his best in the interview. That admin person said nice things about him to us, but never said, he’s the kind of kid that does well at this school, or has qualities that we look for here or anything. While others have.

I’m applying to exeter, andover, Deerfield, and Hotchkiss.

We know…

Vaiwizard: is this post honest? I mean, c’mon, you quite obviously have great ec’s and ssat’s, and if it’s true what you claim–that you know a lot of boarding school people with lots of money–then there is no reason why you shouldn’t know your chances by yourself.

and i for one am getting sick of all these people with contatcs. do contacts really matter that much? cuz i am definitely not a member of those old familys who bribe admission offices with tons of money.

lol it’s not a joke
we know a family that had a guy in the board for deerfield only though

EDIT: Yea do contacts matter anyway?

hey vaizard i just came across your post and i just registered so im kind of new to this.
I actually applied to the same schools you said and a couple of others near boston.

I think the admissions depend on what they are looking for. Its almost like aplying to college~

Do you know if your going for boarding or day?

I’m applying for boarding..

I must say I agree with Jenny Craig on this one. Vaizard, actually not most of your ECs were originally reported to be for 1 year as you now state. You originally claimed to have 8 years piano and Chinese and 3 years tennis at level 3. I’m not at all familiar with what all these might mean, but you just sound really insincere.

And I also quote you as follows - " My family has some connections to some of these schools (board members, large sums of money kindly donated to the school, etc.)".

This reads quite clearly as meaning some board members are family members and that your family has donated large sums of money to the schools ‘etc’, clearly suggesting more.

now, when challenged, your story changes to ‘we know people who have’. i have to tell you, you sound like a fraud. if your family has really donated such large sums, why would you not know/understand the way this works for legacy/hooked kids?

my daughter is 13 and working with all her heart and spirit to get into one of these schools. there are some wonderful sounding kids in this space, doing great things and encouraging each other. compared to them, you really sound pretty fake.

sorry if people think i’m judging, but the series of posts from this person just sound like a complete wind-up and really, really a waste of time in a forum where i have witnessed such great honesty, sharing and caring over the last few months.

mm

HERE HERE, marathonmom!

… -_-
my family hasn’t I said I knew people
anyway
SSAT scores came in

Percentiles first: 87% Verbal
96% Reading
74% Math

734 Verbal, 731 Math and 731 Reading

now what?

my language EC’s are 1 year and 1 year for japanese and Chinese as well..

wait, you said you had eight years of japanese and one year of french and some other language…stop changing your stats…

but good job on your ssat, those are pretty good scores!

How can we take you seriously if you keep altering your E.Cs?
Yes. Scores are fine. But are they real?

“Chinese 8 yrs., grade 8, 2nd in some speech contest (school)
Fencing 2 years
Piano (8 Yrs, NYSSMA Lvl. 6 which is Final)
Tae Kwon Do (5 Years, Black Belt Dan 1)
Tennis (Level 3, 3 years)
Swimming, level 1 1 yr.
Japanese & French 1 yr.”

My japanese and french are 1 year, see?
Are you serious about my scores though? I’m only on 74th percentile for math!

I’m applying to Hotchkiss, too. I have an 84 overall. Quit whining about your flipping 96% in reading, 87% verbal, and 74% math.
Your in the top 5% nationally and the top 30% of the people who took the test.

Poor you. How can you ever get into a good school now?! Your chances are ruined! Your E.C.s are inadequate! You will be doomed to be a burger king cashier. You will never go to a good college all because you got LESS THAN PERFECT on your SSATs!
*Is ^THAT what you want to hear form us? Because it can certainly be arranged if you’d like us to lie through our teeth.
