We are from Simsbury, CT. S is a freshman/sophmore this year. Pretty much no one goes to Bama from this area but our high school is sending another great student down to Bama in August. (after I recommended the school/scholarships to his parents) I have been telling people all year what a great place Bama is but some still don’t want to consider it because it is in “THE SOUTH”.

Idinct…

Arose is also from Conn. He’s just been accepted to Bama.

Great to hear from CT students. With the weather we had this year, you would think more students would be interested in Southern Schools. S knows of one guy from the next town over who is going to be a freshman. He was going to try to room with him, but there was some snafu with his honors designation or something I think. Neither of us feel bad about that as I think it is better to branch out. We do have a couple of upperclassmen from our town, S has not met them yet. Their parents are active in recruiting.

NW Ohio! Very excited to leave the snow up here.
But I keep hearing that there is such a thing as humidity in Alabama? haha
I’m excited nonetheless.

Yes…summers are humid. The humidity leaves by about mid September…then it’s perfect for fall…

I’m glad that classes are starting a week later this year…one less week of humidity.

another Californian thrilled with the Crimson Tide

Roll Tide from Oregon! Not looking forward to having my DD so far away from me. But I’m 100% sure she made the right choice.

Glad to hear that your D is coming to Bama…

Roll Tide!

Roll Tide Yorba2Bama Where from in AZ?

I’m thinking all of us OC and SoCal should have travel coordinating sessions so we can share shuttles, etc.

Welcom to the group and RTR:)

What part of SoCal are you from?
When is your S going to Bama Bound?
My S is going 5/31- 6-1 but he is flying in 5/30 at 4:30 and leaving 6/2 at 10:30.
Still looking for a shuttle buddy…

Yorba - what dorm did you get? - looks like DS has a SoCal frosh next year…

We’re in Mission Viejo. Son is already at Bama finishing his first year and NOT regretting his choice. He’s an EE major, although I have to get clarification I think it’s now EE and Computer Engr (ECE?). He’s in Riverside W this year and staying put next year as well.
What’s your son’s major?

Might suggest starting a “5/31-6/2 Bama Bound - anyone else?” see who else may turn up. I know a couple of guys from our high school are going to UA but that’s graduation week so I imagine they’ll do as we did last year and go afterwards.

S is in Riverside West- 1st floor. He’s dorming with a of kid he met at the CBHP weekend. His major is Engineering/undecided.
He originally was thinking of EChem, but Dr. Williams showed him a project in the works involving artificial limbs on our visit last Jan. Fascinating stuff.
Who knows what will catch his interest next year…

^^^^

Ahhh…your son is in CBHP.

Has he joined the CBHP facebook group? He should…he’ll probably find someone who is flying in when he is.

Hi all. Happy easter! Searched for the facebook cbhp page and missed it. Help please…

Was just in Walgreen’s and the cashier said she loved my hat and that she was Bama Bound in the Fall! Sounds like more and more kids and parents from our uppity area are getting the word - Alabama is the place to be! Roll Tide!

Take a guess where I’m from. And where I’m from we call that Tiger Bait!

^^^

Are you going to Bama or someplace else?

Checking in from Connecticut, about 15 minutes away from UConn. I’m a lifelong New Englander but after the winter we had this year I’m not gonna miss it, haha. Rollll Tide
