Welcome to Bama!

RTR860- Roll Tide!
we are from CT and this was the worse winter ever. We were driving up in the Litchfield Hills yesterday am and it was snowing, ugh. S is looking forward to warmer weather next year.

Checking in from St. Louis! I’ll be staying in Ridgecrest West next semester and studying Math and Pre-med. Roll Tide!

Roll tide…

Since you’re pre-med, go to the Bama Pre-Health Advising Website and put yourself on the Listserve email list so that you can start getting all the messages and announcements concerning Pre-med students.

Scroll down and click on the link to sign up for Listserve…

[The University of Alabama Health Professions Advising Website](http://premed.ua.edu/)

Also, at Bama Bound, usually the director of pre-med advising (Mr. Chris Hutt) talks to the pre-med students.

Roll Tide and Welcome to UA! I hope that the recent tornado didn’t cause very much damage in your area.

You’ll like Ridgecrest West. A lot of cool people, many of them CC posters, are living there next year.

RTR860 and ldinct, greetings from Tuscaloosa where it’s 85 and sunny. While Tuscaloosa can get somewhat cold and it may snow on occasion, it’s fun to be somewhat of a snow bird.

Fine seatide, rub it in! 85!!!

Just heard from my son that there are three other students who will attend UA this fall from his senior class of around 480 here in our far western suburb of Chicago. This adds to at least one other who started last year and is loving his experience at UA.

Wow…4 students from one Chicago high school. Roll Tide!!!

Now there are four from my daughter’s western suburb of Chicago as well! However, randomparent wins with a higher percentage - DD’s senior class is just under 900.

I have suggested to my son that they may want to start some kind of Western Suburbs of Chicago Student association. I think there may be some other students as well from some of the other high schools here in the Fox River Valley.

S just posted on facebook that he is Bama Bound!!! We live in East Tennessee having moved from Alpharetta, Georgia (via Tampa, Richmond and New Jersey!) There are 6 very high achieving students/friends that will also be attending UA from his HS.

Thanks to this very active board for pertinent information/insight! Now just worried that his earliest date for bama bound is 6/22 and cause limited class selection. Wonder if earlier dates will open up? He is Honors but could not get an Honors date.

kmwjes: your S will be joining a number of high achieving TN kids at UA; they just had a photo shoot a few weeks ago with TN kids for some marketing they’re planning. D said there were about 50-100 kids at the photo shoot.

As for Bama Bound, they hold back seats in classes for each BB group, so even if a class seems closed, there will be seats released the morning that they go to register.

this thread needed a bump since some of our newer posters haven’t posted here.

BTW…found a neat trick for finding super popular threads. I clicked on “views” and the the threads that have been viewed the most, show up in order.

Feelin’ kinda dense this morning, but where is “views”?

List of Bama threads…Far right column

Southeastern Wisconsin, but most of my family lives in the south.

M2, duh, but of course. I never noticed that it was called views. Thx!

LOL…that’s ok…I can’t tell you how many times things like that have happened to me. :)

stressmuffin…welcome!!! :)

Are you the student or parent?

DS is from Northern VA, about an hour from Washington, DC. Lots of very prestigious schools around here, but he is excited about Bama and being in his beloved South.

DS not taking the car. We will definitely be looking for a Ride Board, or some way to connect with other folks/students who will be driving up/down for the holidays, summers, etc. Is there a UA thread devoted to that purpose?

I haven’t seen one, but that is an EXCELLENT idea!! Our regional recruiter told us there were 9 students for the KC metro headed for Bama next fall, but that she couldn’t give names. I hope some of them may be on this board, and maybe we can organize rides too!!
