What--Still No Decision??

I applied to UMCP for transfer for Fall 2008. At the time, I was really excited and was hoping to transfer. That was exactly two months ago, and still no decision.

This is after countless phone calls to the admissions office. The first time I called to confirm that all my documents were received. I called again mid-March and was informed that a decision would be out by the end of March or early April (I applied by the priority deadline). I called at the end of March, and was told mid-April. I called mid-April, and was told... nothing. Then I emailed the admissions office.

That was last week, and there's still nothing. I've been checking the online decisions status every single day since March. It's been pretty disappointing that CP won't even take the time to reject or defer me. Also, there has been nothing in the mail.

What do you think is going on? I'm currently studying abroad overseas, and I have spent a lot of money on the international calls (including paying for the 15 minute wait time for each call).

UMCP was the only college I applied to for transfers, and I had been accepted as a freshman (Gemstone + scholarship, no less). So I guess I'm not transferring after all, and honestly, that might be a good thing. It's not like I actually have time to speak to an advisor (yay, more international charges!) and get into the classes I need to take to graduate on time.

Is there any way I can get my $50 application fee refunded?

Sorry if I offended anyone. I'm sure CP is a great school. This was probably just an isolated scenario, maybe a computer glitch that got everything delayed.

I highly doubt you can get your money back.

Also since you are statng you are overseas, I am assuming that you are an international student. If you are then you should give them more time.

Also understand that ths yr UMD had 28K incoming freshman applicants for 4K openings, it was the highest amount they ever had. I would believe that this would be true for transfers.

Thanks for the response.

I'm an American student as well as a Maryland resident. I'm studying abroad for just this semester.

It seems that most people already heard back (on CC and friends of friends).

I don't understand this. Are you a transfer applicant or a freshman applicant? Are you already in UMD? Were you accepted as a freshman applicant when you first applied to colleges (a few years ago)?

I have also applied to UMCP as a freshman and I'm a US citizen but live overseas. I have not recieved any decision about my admission, even though UMCP is one of my first choices, and will definately go there if I get accepted. I sent them an email inquirying about the subject on Friday, but till today no answer.

Sorry about the semi-bitter post above...... well, because I got in. :)

Good to know that their optional essay was indeed optional (I left it blank).

I just got an email saying that I've been accepted as a transfer. :)

Congrats, star and ansel!
