If there is a map out there somewhere that would be nice...

But I was just wondering if the area around UCSB has any grocery stores, clothing stores, and other kinds of shops.

I'm figuring that I will eventually grow tired of dorm food and want to venture out and find more things - I am also a health nut and shop at whole foods...so if there is a health food store around that would be awesome too lol. So does anyone have a list of the shops around UCSB?

Right next to UCSB is IV(Isla Vista) which is basically walking/biking/skateboarding distance from campus. They have plenty of places to eat like free birds and silver greens.
Here is a directory of the places in IV [*Shop Isla Vista - Community Information and Resources](http://www.shopiv.com/) and here is a map as well from the same website [Shop Isla Vista - Community Information and Resources](http://www.shopiv.com/directory.asp).

For clothes shopping there is the Paseo Nuevo , an outdoor mall in downtown SB. It’s also very easy to get there you just take the bus, 24x and it takes you directly there with no stops since it simply goes onto the freeway. It takes about 15 minutes. There they have department stores like Macy’s and Nordstroms. They also have a sephora, american eagle, barnes and noble, rite aid, gap, victoria’s secret and more.

From what I’ve heard last Fall, the closed down Circuit City near La Cumbre plaza is being turned into Whole Foods…also there is a Trader Joe’s in Fairview.

Downtown SB is really nice and they have an outdoor mall in La Cumbre as well (just recently discovered it).

One warning from a parent (although it may be more of an issue for your parents than for you): There is no Target in Santa Barbara. Target typically has a lot of good dorm-type stuff (folding clothes hampers, stuff like that), so if you’re thinking of getting that sort of thing you should get it before you go (which is a shame, because a lot of the time you don’t really know what will work until you get there.)

For regular student-type stuff Isla Vista/Goleta/Santa Barbara has everything you could want - most of it within walking distance.
