Im def taking math 2, im in calc 2 right now...
I want to major in something chemistry related... and UCLA's admissions site says its extremely important to take a math and science in you plan on going into the applied sciences..

I would take Chem, but I'm only in a honors level class right now (junior year), and I dont wanna overkill myself by studying for an 800.... (alhtough i have like a 97 in the class right now)

My other option is US History, which would be pretty easy for me since im in APUs right now and im acing all the tests.. all I would need to do is review, which wouldnt be hard since AP tests are around the time im taking them.

So would it still be much better to take chem instead of us history if i plan on going into the sciences? or would the difference in admissions be very minimal if i took us history instead??

I would look at some of the practice tests for Chemistry and see if you’re at least somewhat able to do them in a couple of months. If so, just study on what you don’t currently know. And, you also have a lot of time, but w/e you are taking a corresponding AP class to, it might be a good idea to take that subject test. Fall 2012, the UCs aren’t requiring subject tests anymore for admission…but if you want to be in some sort of science/math, you should probably focus on just those subject tests.

I would take Math 2 and Chem, especially since you might consider other schools outside of the UC system that will highly recommend/require them such as CalTech or MIT. Or maybe Math 2 and USH in May and Chem in June?
